Bear Hollow Woodcarvers
The wood we use at Bear Hollow comes from trees in the hills of southern Indiana and is 75 to 125 years old. Loggers working for Etienne's Logging harvested the wood from a professionally managed forest where sustainable forestry is being practiced. This means that right now harvest practices have encouraged the birth and re-growth of a future harvestable tree where the wood once grew. This harvest practice guarantees there will never be a shortage of wood for the Bear Hollow Wood Shop.
At the wood shop you can find Chainsaw sculptures, custom made garden benches and fountains, custom interior & exterior furniture, and much more.
We also sale dried native & exotic hardwoods for the home woodshop craftsman. We carry Ash, Cherry, Hard Maple, Poplar, Red Oak, Walnut, Ambrosia Maple, Basswood, Cedar, Red Elm, Kentucky Coffee, Sassafras, and many more. We carry hardwood flooring, trim, & also do custom millwork. Another product available in our wood shop is native Poplar 2x4's, 2x6's, and 1x6's available in 8', 10', and 12' lengths.
We carry a large variety of items that will compliment any rustic décor as well as a large variety of items made by local artists.
Our carvings are made by one of the Bear Hollow Wood Carvers. They are all local residents and most actually live in Bear Hollow.
We also travel doing demo's and on sight carvings. For questions on prices to have a carver come to your show, fair, festival, etc or to have a stump in your yard carved give us a call at the shop.

Jason Emmons is our head carver. He lives with his wife Cindy, also a carver, and their three children on the north side of Bear Hollow in a log cabin. Jason's job is to figure out the techniques involved in new projects and teach the other carvers. He does most of the custom work. Jason was recently 1 of 5 carvers from the United States selected by Echo Outdoor Power Equipment to represent them collectively and individually. For more information on the Echo Carving Team click on the team picture. Jason is the second from the right in the picture.
Joann Etienne is also a carver. She is the co-owner of our company. She lives on a beef cattle farm near the old river town of Derby with her husband Phil the starving construction worker - turned logger.
Wade Etienne drives a semi hauling logs and lumber and also works as a logger. In his spare time he works in the carving shop. The locals call him the 'Carvin' Monster'.
The carvers keep our showroom stocked and also work on custom orders. If there is something special you would like done we would be glad to take a custom order. From the color of the carving to the size & shape - we'll make it just for you.
Kenny Marshall help finish our carvings as well as build furniture, and many other jobs involved with Bear Hollow. It's a group effort!!
With a small amount of attention to keep the carvings high and dry and an occasional application of wood preservative, they should last many years.
With a purchase from Bear Hollow Wood Shop you become a part of the "Sustainable Forest Initiative" and help guarantee that wise harvest and use will enable carvings and other wood products to grow in the woods for generations to come.
